2027: Yahaya Bello distance self from running against Tinubu

Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has disassociated himself from claims suggesting he plans to run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued by Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, the circulating campaign poster was described as fake, misleading, and the work of individuals intent on tarnishing Bello’s image.

Bello reaffirmed his strong support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The statement reads in part:
“We have noticed yet another baseless post from mischief makers whose only aim is to spread falsehood and deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.

“Those committed to pulling down His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, have continually failed in their attempts.

“This is not the first time detractors have fabricated stories to create conflict between the former governor and President Tinubu. This latest stunt of re-sharing a 2022 rally video and presenting it as a new event shows the depths of their desperation.

“These bloggers and their sponsors are recycling outdated content, ignoring clear 2022 dates on the banners in the footage, and expecting people to fall for their manipulation.

“To be clear, His Excellency Yahaya Bello has no intention of contesting the 2027 presidency. Instead, he remains fully committed to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

“The facts speak for themselves—despite global headwinds, President Tinubu and his team have delivered commendable progress for Nigeria. He has earned the backing of all patriotic citizens.

“We urge the public to disregard this deceptive narrative, which is nothing more than the ramblings of confused and frustrated individuals.”
