‘85% women want to leave their Marriages, I tried thrice’ – Actress, Jaiye Kuti

Nollywood actress Jaiye Kuti has asserted that a significant majority of married women, approximately 85%, contemplate leaving their marriages. During an interview with Gistzlife, the actress shared that she herself attempted to end her marriage on three occasions but found herself unable to follow through.

Kuti explained that the dynamics of a marriage allow couples to understand each other better post-marriage compared to their dating phase. She also highlighted men’s egocentric inclination to cheat as a factor that leads women to consider divorce.

“If you were to ask a hundred women, about 85% of them want to exit their marriages. I even made attempts to leave my marriage three times. The challenge arises when people from different cultures get married; that’s when their true selves start to emerge. Initially, a man may treat and pamper a woman when seeking marriage, but once a second marriage and children are in the picture, things can take a different turn. Men can also exhibit egotistical tendencies, especially when it comes to infidelity,” said Kuti.
