Human rights advocate Celestine Akpobari has declared that Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) no longer holds any authority as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, following the recent reconciliation between Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Governor Nyesom Wike, and members of the State Assembly.
Speaking on The Morning Brief on Channels Television on Monday, Akpobari—who is also a member of the Governing Council of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP)—emphasized that Ibas should not interfere with the 2025 Rivers State budget amounting to N1.48 trillion, which was passed by the Senate on June 25, 2025.
He further urged President Bola Tinubu to revoke the state of emergency imposed on Rivers State and reinstate full executive powers to Governor Fubara.
