Osun voters will reject Adeleke in 2026 — Oyebamiji

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has said that voters will reject Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2026 polls due to alleged poor handling of the state’s finances.

Speaking to APC supporters during a visit to the Ijesa-North federal constituency on Monday, Oyebamiji accused the Adeleke-led administration of misusing significant revenue allocations without delivering meaningful development.

He stated, “In the past 30 months, Osun State has received over 300% more in federal allocations compared to previous periods, yet there is nothing concrete to show for such massive financial inflows.”

Addressing growing rumours that Governor Adeleke might defect to the APC, Oyebamiji urged party members to remain calm, assuring them there is no need for concern.

“Our leader, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, will personally speak on the matter soon. But he has sent me to assure you that there’s no reason to be alarmed—our leadership remains firmly in control,” he said.

He encouraged party faithful to remain united and focused as preparations for the next election continue, adding that federal efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing controversy surrounding local government leadership in the state.

“Our minister is working hard to ensure justice is served regarding the council issues. Our duly elected local government chairmen and councillors remain in charge and will continue to do so until we reclaim power in 2026,” Oyebamiji added.

Meanwhile, DAILY POST also reported that Governor Adeleke, while speaking at a separate event on Monday, dismissed the defection rumours, affirming his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “I’m not leaving the PDP,” he stated.
