Africa Road Builders: UAE to host stakeholders for 2024 Inaugural Conference

The General Commission of The Africa Road Builders – Trophée Babacar NDIAYE has declared that the Inaugural Conference for the 9th edition of the conference will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from April 17 to 21, 2024.

This information was communicated in a statement released to DAILY POST by the General Commissioner and CEO of ACTUROUTES, Mr. Barthélemy Kouame.

He mentioned that the conference, themed “Quality of road infrastructure and development in Africa,” aims to bring together decision-makers, project owners, donors, and operators from all regions of Africa, along with journalists from the continent’s five regions and their guests.

In the statement, Kouame said, “The General Commission is issuing a call for communications to all partners, entities, or experts interested in making a presentation, urging the mobilization of diverse exchanges for the development of Africa.”

He further noted that companies or institutions operating in Africa are encouraged to showcase their best achievements in road and transport to determine the winners of the ‘Builder Trophy’ from The Africa Road Builders in 2024.

From the 2024 edition, the ‘Builder Trophy’ will feature several categories, emphasizing the recognition of all stakeholders involved.

Kouame explained that, in line with tradition, the Super Prize Great Builder – Babacar NDIAYE Trophy 2024 will be presented to an African Head of State whose country has achieved success related to the annual theme. The 2024 laureate will succeed His Excellency Andry RAJOELINA, the 2023 laureate.

The laureate of the Babacar NDIAYE Trophy is determined by a Selection Committee consisting of journalists across Africa. The awards, including the Builders Trophy and the Super Prize Great Builder – Babacar NDIAYE Trophy, will be officially presented during the Final Conference at the AfDB Annual Meetings in May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.

As part of the awards, the General Commission plans to propose a Special Prize to the highest authorities of the United Arab Emirates for their achievements in roads and transport.

The General Commission expresses strong optimism that the announced Inaugural Conference will serve as an inspiration and contribute to effective development for Africa, considering Dubai and the United Arab Emirates as symbols of progress in roads and transport. The Africa Road Builders – Trophée Babacar NDIAYE, established in 2016, has been under the sponsorship of the African Development Bank and its President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, since its inception.
