Abuja, Kaduna train services resume

Some commuters who used the Abuja train service this morning say they didn’t have any difficulties purchasing tickets and understand with the Management of the Nigeria Railway Corporation for increasing fares due to the prevailing hike in general prices of goods and services.

While an anonymous traveller said he paid N3,850 for economic class, Aisha Gobir said she was the first to arrive the Idu station and expected a preferential treatment and for Enoch Ajonu, slight hitches were experienced with the online ticketing app, which he said should be looked into.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director, Operations of the NRC who was at the Idu station, Mr. Akin Osinowo said the fare was increased due to hike in cost of diesel as well as maintenance cost.

Mr.Osinowo added that during heightened activities associated with the yuletide, there might be an increase in the number of trains plying the route.

Mr. Victor Adamu, an official of the NRC gave the new price regimes as N9,000 for the VVIP coaches, N3,600 for standard coaches, N6,500 for VIPs and N3,000 for minors.
