Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has urged the Super Eagles to clinch victory in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The governor hosted a send-forth dinner for the national team on Wednesday, expressing his expectations for their success.
Recalling the event, Sanwo-Olu shared on his social media handle on Thursday, “Reflecting on this splendid night of excellence and joy as we bid farewell to the Super Eagles before their departure for #Afcon2023. I am eagerly anticipating their inaugural match, and the directive to them was straightforward: ‘Don’t let anyone overpower you.’ Bring home the Nations Cup.”
The Super Eagles are scheduled to commence their AFCON 2023 campaign against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday. Additionally, they will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau in the group stage, under the management of Jose Peseiro.
