The former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has passed away. Ezeife, a respected Igbo leader and elder statesman, died at the age of 85 on Thursday. The announcement of his death was made by his family in a statement signed by Rob Ezeife.
The statement from the Ezeife family reads, “I, on behalf of the Ezeife Dynasty of Igbo-Ukwu, announce the passing of our distinguished son, Okwadike, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, CON. He served as a former federal permanent secretary, the inaugural executive governor of Anambra State, a former political adviser to the president, and a past presidential aspirant.”
“This unfortunate event occurred yesterday at 6 pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja. Further details about the deceased and arrangements for his state burial will be provided at a later time,” the statement concluded.
