Asake, Davido, Burna Boy, others make Obama’s favourite music of 2023 list

Barack Obama, the former President of the United States, has incorporated four Nigerian tracks into his preferred music list for 2023.

The featured songs are ‘Unavailable’ by Davido featuring Musa Keys, ‘Amapiano’ by Asake featuring Olamide, ‘Me & U’ by Tems, and ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage. Additionally, South African singer Tyla’s ‘Water’ made it to the list released by the former US President on Friday.

The compilation spans a diverse range of musical genres, including Latino, pop, Afrobeats, hip-hop, grime, reggaeton, reggae, dancehall, R&B, and soul. Obama shared the list through his X handle, inviting suggestions for other artists or songs to explore. He wrote, “Here are some of my favourite songs from this year. Let me know if there are any artists or songs I should check out.”
