BBC documentary: Multichoice removes TB Joshua’s Emmanuel TV from DStv

Multichoice DStv has announced its decision to cease the broadcast of Emmanuel TV, a religious network established by the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), T.B. Joshua. This move comes in the wake of a controversial documentary aired by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that featured individuals claiming to be former members of the church, alleging instances of molestation and torture by the late prophet.

In an on-screen message, Multichoice conveyed that the discontinuation of Emmanuel TV’s broadcast would be effective from January 17, 2024. The message stated, “Dear viewer, please note that Emmanuel TV will exit on the 17th of January 2024. Thank you for watching.”

In addition to parting ways with Multichoice, Emmanuel TV will also cease its service on StarSat and various other pay-TV platforms. The decision to discontinue the broadcast follows the release of a contentious three-part documentary by the BBC, which made allegations of atrocities and sexual crimes committed by the late TB Joshua against his disciples.

The BBC conducted an investigative probe into the late cleric and his church, interviewing at least 30 purported former members and workers of SCOAN.
