Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, along with several other congregants, was stabbed during a church service that was being streamed online from Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Sydney.
Witnesses heard members of the congregation screaming and rushing to aid the bishop.
The New South Wales Police reported that a man was apprehended in connection with the incident and confirmed that four individuals were injured in the attack.
According to Sky News, a man in his 50s sustained multiple lacerations and was taken to the hospital in a serious condition, along with another man in his 30s.
A statement from the police mentioned, “A police operation is currently ongoing in Wakeley, following reports of a stabbing. Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command responded to an address on Welcome Street, Wakeley, after receiving reports of multiple people being stabbed. A male suspect has been arrested and is assisting the police with their inquiries.”
