Blackout hits Abuja over faulty 33kV feeder

Electricity consumers in certain areas of Abuja are currently facing a power outage due to a technical issue with the 33-kilovolt feeder in the Central Area of the nation’s capital. Abuja Electricity Distribution Company made this announcement on Tuesday via its official X account. Affected areas include Dakibiyu, Kado Estate, parts of Life Camp, Efab Estate Life Camp, and surrounding areas.

AEDC stated that its technical team is actively working to restore electricity supply to the affected regions. The notice from the company reads, “The Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc, AEDC, wishes to notify its esteemed customers of a technical fault on a 33kV feeder at Central Area, Abuja. We regret any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience during this time.”

In the meantime, the company reported that power supply has been reinstated to Kapwa Village, Kapwa Ruga, Legislative Institute, Piwoyi Village, and the back of Dunamis in Abuja, which had earlier experienced an outage.
