BREAKING: FG to dock Ex-CBN Gov, Emefiele today on alleged economic sabotage criminal charges

The Federal Government is set to initiate legal proceedings today against Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on charges related to economic sabotage. Emefiele, whose trial was halted approximately 24 hours ago, is scheduled to appear before a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. A notification for the trial, presided over by Justice Hamza Muazu,indicating that Emefiele, along with Ramalan Yaro, will face charges.

An anonymous court registrar has verified that Emefiele will be presented in court this morning to enter his plea of either guilty or not guilty. Maxwell Opara, a member of his defense team, has confirmed that the notice of arraignment has been served to the former CBN Governor, instructing him to attend court.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Matthew Burkaa, who pledged to bring Emefiele for trial, will present the former CBN governor in court. This commitment was made while securing bail from Justice Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi, also of the FCT High Court.
