Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has sent warm Eid-el-Kabir wishes to Muslim faithful and all residents of the FCT, encouraging them to instill the values of sacrifice, true religion, and oneness as they observe this year’s festival.
In a statement released on Friday, the Minister described this occasion as one of great spiritual importance based on the lessons of obedience and devotion exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
“This celebration is not only a spiritual milestone but also a time to renew our collective commitment to peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.”
The Minister commended the Muslim community in Abuja for their commitment to peace and development by showing a spirit of tolerance and coexistence within the FCT.
He assured residents of the commitment of the FCT Administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to better the lives of residents.
“In the coming days, we will begin commissioning a plethora of completed projects across the Territory, in celebration of Mr. President’s second year in office. These are critical projects aimed at opening up the healthcare, education, agriculture, transportation and more sectors of the FCT. They stand as visible proof of our commitment to delivering tangible, impactful change and building a capital city that reflects the hopes and aspirations of all Nigerians”.
While wishing the President well, the Minister encouraged the residents to pray for the strength and wisdom for the President to take Nigeria higher.
Regarding security in the city, the Minister assured the residents that Abuja remains one of the safest cities in the country.
“Recently, there was a quarry-related explosion that caused understandable public anxiety and was initially mistaken for a suicide bombing. I want to emphasize that this incident was industrial in nature, not an act of terrorism. Immediate investigations were conducted, and appropriate safety measures are being reinforced to prevent any recurrence. We are committed to transparent communication and proactive management of public safety concerns.”
Wike concluded his message by wishing all residents a peaceful celebration. “On behalf of the FCT Administration, I wish you and your families a joyful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling Eid. May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices, and may He continue to bless the FCT and our dear nation, Nigeria”.
