Environmental taskforce arrests 41 in Lagos Island

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce arrested 41 suspects during a coordinated security operation carried out across key areas of the Island in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to a statement from the agency’s Director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the enforcement exercise began around 1:00 a.m. and targeted known criminal hotspots, including Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Falomo, Osborne Road, the Eko Hotel area, Lekki Road, and Obalende.

This operation is part of a broader initiative by the Lagos State Government aimed at tackling street-level crime and restoring order in public spaces.

The crackdown specifically focused on miscreants, street urchins, hooligans, pickpockets, and other suspected criminals whose actions threaten the safety of residents and commuters.

Authorities emphasized their ongoing commitment to maintaining such enforcement efforts to promote a safer Lagos.

“Sanity was restored during the exercise, with 41 suspects apprehended,” the statement confirmed.
