FG announces resumption of Abuja-Kaduna train service

The Federal Government says the Abuja-Kaduna train services will resume this November.

The Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo made this known on Monday while presenting the achievements of his ministry from 2015 to date in Abuja.

He said adequate security has been put in place with 24-hour security surveillance to prevent any attack.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) suspended train service along the route after Boko Haram terrorists attacked a moving passenger train in Kaduna on March 28, 2022.

Also, the Warri Itakpe rail project and the Lagos Ibadan segment of the Lagos Kano rail corridor has been open to commuters.

Mr Sambo said the Kano Maradi and Port Harcourt Maiduguri rail projects were also on course.

In the maritime domain, the deep blue sea project had stopped the activities of Pirates along the notorious Gulf of Guinea.

The Minister noted that the deep blue sea project was a security initiative with sophisticated equipment as its components.
