Foreign firms not needed to fix refineries – Onuesoke

Former Delta State governorship aspirant and public affairs analyst, Sunny Onuesoke, has stated that Nigeria does not need foreign firms to rehabilitate its refineries, asserting that local professionals possess the necessary expertise.

In a statement he personally signed and shared with journalists in Warri, Onuesoke expressed strong faith in the technical competence of Nigerian engineers and technicians, especially those working within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to successfully restore and operate the nation’s refineries.

He pointed to previous successful maintenance efforts led by local engineers as proof of their capability, stressing that what’s truly needed is strong political will and the eradication of corruption—not foreign intervention.

Onuesoke’s statement carried a tone of patriotism and fiscal responsibility, calling for the empowerment of Nigerian professionals. He also criticized the persistent practice of awarding contracts to international companies for projects that he believes Nigerians are fully capable of executing.
