The abductors of Hon. Nelson Adepoyigi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairman in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, have now kidnapped two more individuals who delivered a negotiated ransom and food items to them. Adepoyigi’s captors had initially demanded N100 million for his release but later agreed to a reduced ransom of N5 million, along with food supplies.
However, the situation worsened when the two men who delivered the ransom—Bayode Loco and Isimeri—were also taken hostage by the kidnappers. The abductors have now issued a fresh demand of N30 million for the release of all three captives.
A source familiar with the situation revealed that Adepoyigi, Loco, and Isimeri are still in the custody of the abductors, who are now insisting on the new ransom. The development has caused renewed anxiety among Adepoyigi’s family members and political associates.
The source said, “The two men went to deliver the ransom and food as agreed, but the kidnappers detained them and are now asking for N30 million before releasing them and Adepoyigi.”
The Chairman of Ose Local Government Area, Hon. Kolapo Oja, previously confirmed that the kidnappers had reduced their ransom demand to N5 million and food supplies. He expressed deep concern over the latest turn of events and urged the public to remain calm as security agencies work to resolve the crisis.
Adepoyigi was kidnapped on Monday night at around 10 p.m. as he attempted to park his car at his home in Ifon. According to sources, the attackers entered his compound, assaulted him with sticks, and dragged him away. His wife reportedly heard his screams and ran outside, only to find that he had already been taken by the abductors.
