Nigeria Humanitarian Fund Saved One Million Lives in 2024 – Report

Nearly one million lives were assisted with lifesaving support by the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) in 2024.

This was disclosed in the 2024 Annual Report of the Fund, made available to newsmen.

According to the report, “In 2024, the NHF allocated $19 million, reaching approximately 900,000 people in need with essential humanitarian assistance.”

The 2024 intervention record is an improvement on the 2023 version.

It would be recalled that in 2023, the Fund enabled life-saving assistance for over 720,000 people across Borno (437,000), Adamawa (115,000), and Yobe (167,000) states.

The NHF support focused on critical sectors such as nutrition, health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), with particular attention to women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

The NHF operates as a Country-Based Pooled Fund (CBPF). It collects unearmarked contributions from donors and allocates resources based on the most critical needs identified in the Humanitarian needs and Response Plan (HNRP).
