Osun judiciary workers picket Chief Judge’s office

The Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, has protested outside the office of the State Chief Justice. This move by Osun JUSUN is reportedly a show of support for some of their colleagues who they claim have faced various forms of mistreatment under the embattled Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo.

Oluwagbemiga Olakunle Eludire, the Chairman of Osun JUSUN, explained to journalists on Monday at the Osun State High Court premises, which houses the Chief Judge’s office, that their concerns are distinct from the actions of the state government. Eludire emphasized that their protest stems from the Chief Judge’s failure to release the wardrobe allowance from 2021 onwards, despite state government funding.

He further stated that they are seeking answers regarding the non-compliance with the Osun government’s directive on promotions and advancements, questioning why these resources were not utilized for their intended purposes. Additionally, Eludire raised concerns about the alleged unjust suspensions of prominent JUSUN members without proper investigations in accordance with public service rules.

He concluded by asserting their determination to persist with their protest until appropriate actions are taken to address the issues at hand.
