Pentecost Sunday Turns Black Sunday In Ondo, Over 50 Feared Dead

The Pentecost celebration which commemorates the day in which the Holy Spirit visited the Church was met with a different scenario at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, as gunmen attacked and turned the celebration into a Black Sunday.

Parishioners were caught unawares in the early hours, as they were attacked and killed by gunmen.

Reports confirmed that corpses had been moved out of the church with many casualties lying at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, for medical attention.

A source explained that some gunmen invaded the church during Mass and opened fire on the members of the church, shooting sporadically and killing some worshippers.

There were reports confirming that the gunmen also used some explosives within the compound of the church but most of those who fell victim of the ugly incidents were hit with gunshots.

The Agenda Newspaper gathered that the perpetrators were said to have fled the scene immediately after carrying  out the killing, leaving many people dead.

A medical personnel at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where the casualties were taken said over 50 people had been taking to the hospital, while some were dead already others alive.

Several online videos which went viral had shown humans soaked in their blood in the church as most of those persons were already dead.
