Rivers crisis: Details of Wike’s meeting with PDP Governors in Abuja emerge

New information regarding the meeting between the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has been revealed.

As a reminder, the PDP governors visited the former governor as a gesture of courtesy following the political turmoil that erupted in Rivers State on Sunday night. The meeting took place in Abuja, and during this gathering, Wike assured the governors of his continued membership in the main opposition party. He also stated that his presence in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was to support President Bola Tinubu in achieving his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The PDP Governors Forum was headed by its chairman, Senator Bala Muhammed, who expressed gratitude to Tinubu for appointing Wike as the FCT minister. Additionally, Wike commended Tinubu’s efforts to resolve the political crisis in Rivers State.

Wike stated, “I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and also the PDP Governors’ Forum for stepping in to resolve the issues. It takes mature minds to be able to do that.”

Nevertheless, the minister accused those who oppose him of being responsible for the issues in the state and pledged not to be deterred by social media propaganda or intimidation. He thanked the forum for their visit and reiterated his commitment to work for the president in realizing his agenda to renew hope among the citizenry.

Mohammed commended Wike for his maturity in handling the crisis and recognized his substantial contributions to the growth of Rivers State and the PDP.
