Napoli captain Giovanni De Lorenzo stated that Victor Osimhen’s decision to travel to Marrakech, Morocco, on the eve of the team’s UEFA Champions League clash against Braga was justified. Osimhen had gone to Marrakech on Monday to receive his Men’s Player of the Year award at the CAF Awards 2023.
Following the ceremony, the 24-year-old returned to Naples and was included in the starting lineup for the match against Braga at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona. Osimhen went on to score Napoli’s second goal of the night.
De Lorenzo expressed his support, emphasizing that the travel did not result in fatigue. He acknowledged the significance of the award and believed it was right for Osimhen to attend the ceremony.
