Abia littered with abandoned NDDC projects – Otti tells minister

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called upon the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, to take steps to bring contractors back to abandoned NDDC projects scattered throughout Abia State.

The governor made this plea during a meeting with the minister and his delegation, who were in the state to inspect road projects overseen by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and NDDC.

Expressing regret, Governor Otti highlighted Abia’s significant suffering due to the abandonment of NDDC projects, emphasizing that several NDDC roads in the state were in a dilapidated state and urgently required attention.

Governor Otti emphasized the importance of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and NDDC to the development of the Niger Delta region, appreciating the minister’s visit to Abia for the road inspection.

Identifying the major hindrance to the completion of some NDDC road projects as longstanding debts for executed work, the governor appealed to the minister to address this issue critically to revive the projects.

Governor Otti commended the minister for undertaking the inspection visit and assured him of Abia’s collaboration to ensure the achievement of his objectives.

In his remarks, Minister Abubakar Momoh praised Governor Otti for the improved security situation in Abia and urged him to continue prioritizing peace in the region for the economic well-being of the people.

Momoh emphasized that his ministry’s aim is not to compete with states but to collaborate with them for meaningful development, stressing the need for a strong partnership between the ministry and the states to achieve tangible results.
