Imo guber: You didn’t lose, join my govt – Uzodimma tells PDP, LP candidates

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has extended an invitation to his opponents from the recently concluded governorship election to collaborate with him in uplifting the state. In his view, it wasn’t a case of his opponents losing, but rather a victory for the people of the state.

Addressing the public in a state broadcast on Monday afternoon, Uzodimma, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), offered an olive branch to those who challenged him in the election, including Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party.

Following a decisive victory against his opponents, the former senator delivered an acceptance speech a day after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the off-cycle poll. It is noteworthy that a Supreme Court ruling had previously declared Uzodimma the winner of the governorship election, unseating Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP.

Governor Uzodimma attributed his success to God and expressed gratitude for the honor conferred upon him by both God and the people of Imo State. In acknowledging the democratic nature of the contest, he emphasized that in such scenarios, only one person emerges as the victor.

He conveyed his congratulations and sympathy to his fellow contestants, emphasizing that they did not experience a loss. Furthermore, he called upon all of them to unite and work together to build the Imo State envisioned by the collective aspirations of its people.
