Kidnapping: FG to rehabilitate four rescued Abuja girls

The commitment of the Federal Government to offering comprehensive rehabilitation to the four girls rescued from the Al-Kadriyar family, following their two-week ordeal in the kidnappers’ den, was emphasized by Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs. After visiting the rescued girls at a medical treatment facility, she stated that the ministry would closely monitor their recovery and provide full rehabilitation, including the engagement of a psychologist, acknowledging the trauma they endured during their captivity.

Mrs. Kennedy-Ohanenye recommended relocating the girls from their current school to a safer environment and proposed that one of them undergo her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme at the ministry. She praised the collaborative efforts of the army, police, and other security agencies in securing the release of the girls while expressing concern about the recurring incidents of kidnapping.The Minister highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s deep concern about the increasing trend of kidnapping and assured that efforts are underway to address the situation. Following her visit, she pledged to update the President and the First Lady on the condition of the rescued girls.
