LG chairman arrested over alleged attempt to assassinate Benue Speaker, Dajoh

The Police have apprehended two individuals, including a local government chairman, in connection with an alleged conspiracy to assassinate Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly. The disclosure was made in a statement issued on Monday by Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi.

The statement revealed that investigations uncovered that the local government chairman had purportedly engaged a militia with the malicious intent of eliminating Speaker Aondona Hycenth Dajoh. The Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) promptly took action based on credible intelligence regarding the planned assassination.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are actively cooperating with investigators as part of the ongoing inquiry. The statement reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and public officials. It assured that both suspects would face the full legal consequences of their actions.
