Plateau massacre: Death toll hits over 115 – Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has revealed that the number of casualties from the Christmas Eve assaults in the state has now surpassed 115. Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Mutfwang characterized the attacks as unprovoked. He called on security forces to identify those behind the “carnage” and their violent followers.

DAILY POST previously covered the horrifying coordinated attacks by assailants on more than 15 communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the state on Christmas Eve. The terrorists not only set numerous houses on fire and looted farm produce but also inflicted harm on residents.

Mutfwang, expressing the gravity of the situation, stated, “Just when we had completed preparations for Christmas, unprovoked attacks were unleashed on our communities.” He reported that in Mangu Local Government alone, 15 people were buried, and in Bokkos, the count had exceeded 100 corpses by the morning. The governor emphasized that the attacks were both unprecedented and monumental. Despite the assailants’ intention to demoralize the people and destabilize the two local governments, Mutfwang declared that the residents remained resolute.
