Plateau Massacre: ‘I watched the video, it’s horror’ – Shehu Sani laments

Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has responded to the recent horrifying events that unfolded in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.

Agendang.news reported simultaneous attacks by assailants on more than fifteen communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the state on Christmas Eve. The attackers set various houses ablaze, looted farm produce, and destroyed properties while causing harm to the residents.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, revealed on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that the death toll in the Christmas Eve attacks in the state has risen to over 115.

In reaction to these events, Shehu Sani expressed his shock and horror in a tweet on his social media account on Tuesday. He mentioned watching a video of the aftermath of the massacre and described the scene of a baby crying on the back of its deceased mother as one of the most cruel and evil acts of inhumanity he has ever witnessed.

Sani questioned whether society should unequivocally condemn such acts, demanding justice, or if the prevailing trend of downplaying mass murder using religious or ethnic sentiments should persist. He emphasized that the haunting images, such as a baby crying beside its deceased mother, should deeply trouble the conscience of every responsible citizen in the country.
