Plateau: Tinubu reacts as bandits kill 115, kidnap scores, burn down 17 communities

President Bola Tinubu expressed strong condemnation for the brutal attacks that took place in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas (LGAs) of Plateau State, resulting in the tragic death of over 115 individuals at the hands of bandits.

Recalling the Christmas Eve incident where gunmen invaded the local councils, killing at least 115 villagers and destroying 17 communities, Governor Caleb Mutfwang confirmed the extent of the casualties and the severe damage caused by the attack, noting that numerous residents are still unaccounted for.

In response to the attacks, President Tinubu, through his spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. Tinubu directed security agencies to promptly intervene, thoroughly search every part of the affected zone, and apprehend those responsible. The President also ordered the immediate mobilization of relief resources for surviving victims and medical assistance for the wounded.

While expressing condolences to the government and people of Plateau, President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that justice would be served, emphasizing that the perpetrators of these acts of death, pain, and sorrow would not escape accountability.
