Renowned Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo, has cautioned parents against accepting monetary gifts from their children without inquiring about the source of the funds. Kanayo delivered this warning during a recent event, which was subsequently shared on social media platforms.
In a widely circulated video clip, Kanayo emphasized the importance for parents to instill the practice of questioning their children about the origins and means by which they acquire possessions. He expressed concern that parents’ indifferent attitude towards this matter could foster corrupt ideologies in their offspring.
Kanayo advised parents to exercise caution when receiving lavish gifts from their children, particularly if the children are not engaged in meaningful activities. He highlighted scenarios where children, despite lacking visible means of income, present expensive gifts or substantial sums of money to their parents without facing interrogation.
He stressed the potential dangers inherent in such situations, warning that parents who fail to inquire about the legitimacy of such gifts or money might face dire consequences.
